Spookiness at the ready.
I'm writing this Halloween evening just before the usual suspects arrive. And we are definitely ready:
Corny spooky movies recorded. -- check.
Sandwiches and snacks at the ready. -- check.
Parachuting skeleton toys, individually packaged large slimy slugs, whoopee cushions, monster figurines, pull-back vampire cars, vampire whistles, orange and black pinwheels, and various other awesome cheapo toys at the ready for trick-or-treaters. -- check.
One thing that I didn't plan for? An incredible nasty storm blew in from the Pacific, dumping huge amounts of rain and sending wind guests through the city. Bummer. I'm guessing that we'll have lots of leftover toys this year.
I'll fill you in on the details tomorrow.
And YOU tell me all about your Halloween, OK?
Deal? Deal.

Halloween here was cold and a bit rainy. My kids are too old to go out but they got dressed up anyway and we sat in the garage with our pumpkins and handed out candy to all the kids who braved the weather while Halloween music played on the radio. We had a lot of fun. The kids were gone by 8pm, so we put the decorations away and put on Jurassic World. It was a great evening.
We were under the same storm you were - I think we got about 5-6 trick or treating groups all evening. There's a spontaneous trunk or treat being organized in the park by the community for tonight - I may go to try to get rid of the rest of the glow sticks. (They don't generally seem to last well year to year. At least, not the cheap ones I give out.) The stickers, pencils, erasers, etc., should be fine for next year.
On the other hand, the boys got a reasonable amount of candy from their ages from prior to the night of, and are now gleefully playing and not complaining about not having gone out in the rain...so I'm not inclined to spoil that by telling them about the trunk or treat. :P
