When does a crash become a flare?

For me, a crash became a flare about about three days ago. And although I loved the resulting photos, spending a couple hours sitting outside in the cold and wind may have been the incident that pushed me over the edge.

My plan of attack? Going to spend a few more days prone. Flat. Horizontal. Drinking lots of fluids, taking ibuprofen for the weirdo chills that plague me, and watching dopey tv from bed.

Dumb stupid autoimmune disease.

Easier to watch tv while supine instead of prone!

for me, I think trudging around watching the UCI World Road Race here in Richmond was the thing that sent me over the edge. Having those weird roving aches and pains... trying to head a full-blown flare off at the pass!

Yes, dumb stupid autoimmune disease. Seems like there's always a price to be paid for even simple pleasures. I hope you feel better soon. Take good care!

I still haven't mastered the difference between a crash and a flare. Mostly, I let it go too long until it becomes a full-blown flare. Even then, I still confuse myself asking, "Is this really a flare or just normal feeling cruddy Sjogren's junk?" Why must we always pay the piper?

Maybe I'll get the hang of it one of these days? Dumb stupid autoimmune disease, indeed!

Rest up. Feel better!

Peg - Roving aches and pains! That's what I have! Right now I feel like something is chewing on various bones in my back. And my ribs. Lovely. Start Methotrexate next week - hope it works without all the charming side effects listed... Flipped out at the GP's office this morning and she's put me on a SSRI as discussed on this blog the other day. Hope it makes a difference.

High levels of personal stress+busy at work+ Doc mucking with my meds=Will I ever NOT be tired again? A week of vacay just around the corner....hope that does it.

I am so glad that Beth told me about your blog. I've been wrestling with Sjogrens for 12 years. The flares are the worse thing!
