A Family in Need

Man. I feel kind of ashamed of my self absorption over the past few weeks. My puny issues like dairy intolerance and a rash pale in comparison to the health crisis that my friend and her family are facing.

My friend's mother is entering a very difficult phase in her struggle with Alzheimer's Disease, and the  distress and anguish that it is causing her mother is equally as devastating to her family.

If you pray; please say a prayer for this family,  or send some positive thoughts their way.

And thanks.

Heavenly Father,
I lift up Julia's friend and her family. Please wrap your arms around them and especially hold their Mother with tender and loving arms. Give her and her family the peace that passes all understanding. In your Son, Jesus' name. Amen

Alzheimer's is a particularly diffiicult disease to face. Mental suffering is often worse than physical. It is so hard on the family, too as they watch the person they knew disappear. I will pray for them. It's also a good reminder to pray for those I know and love with AD.

I have no personal experience with alzheimer's,but my Dad suffers from vascular dementia, so I have a small idea of what your friend and her family are going through. I wish them the best of luck, and they are in my prayers.

Both of my grandparents had Alzheimers. I have the APOE genes 4 and 2. Both of my grandparents lived in Oregon and had a standing arrangement that when it got too hard they could check into the hospital be sent on to their eternal rest. My Grandmother was a Mormon Christian. As an aside, if your parents ever ate game, sweetbreads such as squirrel brains, and the APOEs aren't there, I'd insist on an brain autopsy. Just to rule out Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Why? Because parents often feed their children the same diseased meat as their children- you- and by the time it gets bad it looks just like Alzheimers. Most cases of Creutzfelt are never caught because the autopsy renders an expensive procedure that leaves the instruments un-useable again for anything else. Its very hard to sterilize from the prions that have caused the physical breakdown of the brain in both cases.
God knows your plight. I feel the presence of my loved ones that have passed much more often now than when they were alive. Just because I can't see them, like God, doesn't mean they aren't trying to help you now. I pray you are surrounded by your loving ancestors to support your family at the difficult time. God bless you and keep you.
