I love my un-spillable toddler sippy cup. That thing is worth it's weight in gold.
John has commented several times recently about the stacks of
Pfffttt.
A bedside table isn't legitimately a bedside table unless it's groaning under the weight of at least five books. So THERE, Mr. Only-an-alarm-clock-and-lamp-and-one-measley-book Man. At the moment my table has nine books and personally I think there's plenty of room for more.
Last night I finished up my latest summer read: A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny. I love mysteries and Penny's Inspector Gamache is one intriguing character. I have to confess that every time I see Inspector Gamache's name I think of ganache. Mmmm.......cake.......
.::blink::.
OK. I'm back. Where was I going with this....righto. Books.
So in the wee hours when I finally finished the last chaper, I felt the same way as I do when I have one bite of a delectable fudge cake topped with perfectly creamy ganache icing: I want MORE.
Technology is a wonderful thing. I whipped out my phone, opened the Amazon app, searched for Louise Penny, and after scanning the list of her titles, chose one and hit the BUY NOW button. Brilliant!
There should be an app for middle of the night chocolate cake cravings.
What have you been reading this summer?

I'm a Louise Penny fan also but have not read the new one. I enjoyed Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter by Tom Franklin. (It was an Edgar nominee)
I also like Inger Ash Wolfe and her Hazel Micallef series. It is set in Ontario, up north as we call it. I'd read the series in order but you don't have to. Hazel is a real woman
I read Mo Hayder - Gone. Except for one book I have always liked her writing. I put these in a pile for my new friend who is a mystery fan.
I look forward to seeing what others say about books.
I have been taking pictures of my collection of old Dell mapbacks and White Circle books and posting them on Pinterest. It is cuiously relaxing to play with pictures
Despite the brain fog, I still pursue my love of reading. I enjoy Nora Roberts, Jane Ann krentz, Linda Howard, Robyn Carr, Susan Wiggs,Jodi Picoult, Patricia Cornwell, and so many others. I also read lots of medical/health books on fibro, chronic fatigue syndrome and of course sjogren's and other health issues. I have stock piled so many books, that I actually have a little reserve in place for many rainy days! It's a first for me, as I usually look for books to buy as I have nothing to read. Maybe I'll find new exciting authors today.
Oh boy I have been reading this summer! One is Crazy Little Thing by Tracy Brogan. Also The Walk series by Richard Paul Evans which is inspiring and addicting. And one to help with the string of illnesses I have and dealing with it through God. Its called, A Place of Healing by Joni Eareckson Tada.
All have been great!
It's winter in this part of the world and I have discovered this fabulous little site that has been so helpful even though I have been dealing with Sjogrens for a few years now - well, quite a few years now. So apart from Reasonably Well, I have been reading an Aussie author Kerry Greenwood. I got into her Phryne Fisher series thanks to a TV series and I have now discovered the delightful Corinna Chapman. I mention this latter series with some trepidation as Corinna is a baker. Hmmmmm. I remember being able to eat real bread and croissants and muffins - they have a killer chocolate muffin in one of these books - and recipe! So if you're game enough, enjoy.
Also, thank you so much for the blog. It has been a great help.
I have a hard time remembering the names of authors I like, but I can give you titles (for some reason they stick in my brain). I'm currently reading Inferno by Dan Brown (I guess I can remember a name!), Zealot (about Jesus), This Town (about people in Washington DC), and Turning Suffering Inside Out (about living with physical and emotional pain). I have just finished True Refuge (about developing an internal sanctuary), The White Queen and the Kingmaker's Daughter both by Philippa Gregory. Reading has always been my way of learning and understanding so many things. Now days with the Sjogren's and chondrocalcinosis, fatigue and pain allow me to read more than I normally would. At least there is something good about having a chronic illness!
I love Louise Penny and am anxiously awaiting her new book which comes out tomorrow. I also read Dan Brown, James Rollins, Steve Berry, Anne Perry and Deborah Crombie. For anyone that likes Louise Penny, The CBC in Canada has made a movie of her first book, "Still Life," which will be broadcast on September 15th at 8pm. I can't wait
Working my way through all the Joanne Harris books. Food does seem to be a theme, is it a Sjoggie thing?
