Sheryl Said There'd be Days Like This.....

Sheryl Aronson wrote a great blog entry last Tuesday entitled 'Days Like This':

It is easy to feel guilty for taking time off, but everyone gets sick sometimes. The key words here are accepting yourself as you are each day, giving yourself permission to focus on your own needs, and being at peace with yourself.
Good advice. I'm trying to follow it over the past few days as I find myself in the midst of a flare.

Rats.

I've been in a state of denial but have realized that there's no escaping it......the exaggerated fatigue, the change in my mood, the increased joint pain, and the re-emergence of my spotty cutaneous lupus rash. It all started with my spectacular crash at a restaurant last Friday and has only gotten worse.

None of this is fun. But I think the funky mood that accompanies my flares is the worst symptom of all. I hate being all mopey and cranky. Usually my sense of humor is one of my best coping skills and during a flare, NOTHING seems even remotely funny. I feel lost without my ability to laugh.

So. Y'all need to help me out for a few days while I'm treading water over here. Send me your favorite jokes either by email or by posting them here in the comments. I need a seriously huge infusion of funny. Like this:

OBOY OBOY HERE I GO HYUP HYUP LEMMIE ATTEM HERP DERP

Goofy basset hound that reminds me of one from my childhood found on Cute Overload

I hear you. Losing the sense of humor is awful. My family knows that I am in really rough shape when I announce that I am really cranky, which is our code word for the situation.

Hope you feel better soon. When do you see Dr. Young Guy again?

I'm sorry. :( And on a note closer to what was requested:

I get like that as well when my flares start up. My mood, tolerance, and blogging goes downhill.

Here's something to make me smile every time I see it...a super sappy proposal.

Lots of "old" jokes circulating on the Internet, but these 2 made me laugh out loud . . .

An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen.
The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, 'Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.'
The other man said, 'What is the name of the restaurant?'
The first man thought and thought and finally said, 'What’s the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know, the one that's red and has thorns.'
'Do you mean a rose?'
'Yes, that's the one,' replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, 'Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?'

AND

Morris, an 82 year-old man, went to the doctor to get a physical.
A few days later, the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.
A couple of days later, the doctor spoke to Morris and said, 'You're really doing great, aren't you?'
Morris replied, 'Just doing what you said, Doc: 'Get a hot mamma and be cheerful.''
The doctor said, 'I didn't say that.. I said, 'You've got a heart murmur; be careful.'

I'm just out of a very long exhaustive funk and just starting to feel better, so thank you for the laughs, girls. Julia, sorry you're going through a bad flare. It's amazing how quickly we forget the pain and fatigue and all the other problems as soon as we see a little improvement in our health, and how our mood and our perceptions are influenced by the way we feel. Hope your flare will be a short one, Julia. Be well.

Just in case you haven't seen the happy twins, copy and paste this into your browser:

As many times as I watch this, it never fails to make me smile. It went viral and even made onto a TV commercial. I saw it the day it was posted on Google+ last summer. Enjoy...again if you've already seen it!

Hi Julia, your humor and great info has helped me out so much! I hope you feel better soon.
If you've never read it before look up hyperboleandahalfblogspot.com my boyfriend doesn't have Ebola. Probably.
Her revised pain scale makes me laugh out loud, and the stories about her dogs are priceless! Hope that helps.
