I'm heading back to the midwest this week for my brother-in-law's memorial.
It will be good to spend time with family and friends there, to share stories and re-connect and grieve. John's family has a healthy attitude toward grief in that while they are loving and sympathetic, they also feel that death is just another part of life. A sometimes difficult part, but a reality nonetheless. So rather than dwell on sadness and loss, they make a point to focus on good memories, good thoughts, and good prayer.
We will all cry -- but then we'll laugh over a good meal, maybe make a campfire by the lake, roast a few marshmallows, tell stories, and redefine our new smaller family circle again.
There will be hours of great stories. I can't wait to hear them all.

Beautiful way to remember someone, how it should be.
Travel safely.
Grief is tough... may your family find comfort in each other.
