As mentioned several times previously, I love to bring treats to my healthcare providers. Call it gratitude or bribery......whatever motive you choose. But it's fun and I love looking around for unusual goodies.
I've decided that the first round of treats that I bring to the infusion center staff on Tuesday should be memorable in case I prove to be an exceptionally difficult patient. Having placed zillions of very large gauge needles myself over the years as a nurse, I'm thinking it may be necessary to provide the staff goodies to reimburse them for (hopefully) their tolerance of a nurse-turned-micro-manager-patient.
So I'm thinking that for this first go-around, my snack offering should be in homage to the medication administered: mousie parts. (I know....... rituximab is actually a chimeric monoclonal antibody but it IS part mouse.)
Yes. Mouse cookies. Woo hoo! The decision regarding the cookies is this: Do I make cut-out sugar cookies? With this adorable cutter?
I shamelessly yoinked this idea from the Not So Humble Pie cooking blog:
OR......go for the three dimensional qualities of these little shortbread/almond/licorice whips mousies?
My daughter sent me this picture. I have no idea whatsoever whom to credit for these little beauties, so if you see this picture somewhere else and can provide a link, send it my way. Because whoever made them has exceptional cookie brilliance.
I have licorice whips, AND the adorable cookie cutter in my possession, AND my future daughter-in-law to help, so either is a possibility. I know my limits, though. It's one or the other. Whaddya think?

The 3D cookies are my vote. Actually look a little easier also.
I like the cookies.
I too, give gift to my doctor. I don't make them myself, I'm not courageous like you ! I buy chocolate for Christmas.
Both are really cute! But, as someone sensitive to tree nuts, I'd veer toward the sugar cookies - that way, if there's someone who can't have almonds, they aren't excluded.
Love the cookie cutter want one! Why not do cookie cutter shapes plus a base of cookie, blob of frosting or chocolate to hold shape upright, then coat the little devil in chocolate, or drizzle chocolate for 2 tone effect. Want to be really OTT then make base tablet shaped with white tablet look or whatever colour tablets are. Would only have to do minimal quantity as you have sandwiched 2 bicuits together. Why not do the eyes in really evil glowing red colour in homage to the mutant nature of the mousie drugs.
I would go for the cookie cutter sugar cookies , only because they seem to be easier.
In regards to the other mice goodies, I had seen them on a foodie blog, but I believe they are originally from....Martha Stewart!
Frosting makes everything better.
I'm in favor of either, as long as the little mice have X's for eyes. Unless they use LIVE mice for the drug...
But the red mutant eyes were pretty fab, too.
