The view from Mom's hospital room.
Here in Wisconsin, The weather is frightful. But seeing my family is delightful. Especially in view of the fact that Mom is recovering at an amazingly quick pace. So who cares if it's snowing and really, really cold?
Here Mom is checking out my sister's computer. They both are so stinkin' cute.
I attended a discharge planning meeting with my mom and dad and Mom's therapy team today. Although she's not ready to go home this week, it was great to hear the words GOING HOME used by her caregivers. Woo hoo!
Thank God and whoever invented Provigil. It's been so helpful to me over the past several days. I am trying to get as much rest as I can, but the situation here requires me to be alert and available. Pharmacology to the rescue! I plan to take a serious break today, put my feet up, and just rest until bedtime.
I can't rest indefinitely, though. Mom is still issuing orders from her hospital bed for Dad and I. Dad has to go to pick up some venison from a meat processor. My brother and his son scored a deer during last week's hunting season, and it's all ready to take home in tidy little white packages and tuck into one of Mom's huge chest freezers. Venison is such a good protein source for her since it's so low in fat and cholesterol.
My new job (aside from continuing to slog through the Christmas card list), is to rustle up meals for our elderly parish priest. Mom makes and takes Fr. H. dinner every night. She fixes healthy, lowfat meals for him since he is a stroke surviver as well. But she does allow him to have one slice of pie every other day. It's time to bake the pie, so I'm on it, yes, ma'am! Mmmm.....pie......
We have so much to be thankful for. Including all of your prayers and healing thoughts.
