Anyone who has observed my actions when I am crashing - and those who deal with autoimmune fatigue know painfully well what that means - has seen firsthand the effects of the equation by which I lead my life:
Tired = Stupid
You can read my previous post explaining the mathematic discussion of the fatigue/stupidity relationship here.
After continued study of this phenomenon and it's effect on my behavior, the equation became more specific:
Tired = (Stupid + Cranky) squared
Yesterday, it occurred to me that my life equation required yet another modification.
It's been a busy few weeks for me, a great few weeks in which I had a chance to visit lots of friends and relatives. It also was a few weeks in which my energy levels became very low. So as I have spent the last day or so on self imposed house arrest to recharge my batteries, it's been fun to reminisce about the vacation's events and conversations.
Fun, yes, for me. But I also recollected the interesting responses that I received to some conversations that occurred during dangerously low energy levels.
Ever heard the term TEGO? It means Their Eyes Glazed Over, and it seems that this is the response I get more often than not when I attempt to converse while I am crashing. Upon further reflection, I can definitely see that I babble much more - exponentially more - when I am tired. Hence my poor conversation partners' response.
So it appears that my life equation needs some further tweaking. I think it should look like this:
Tired = (Stupid + Cranky) squared + (Blabbermouth) cubed
In other words, if you are anywhere in the general vicinity of a tired Julia, be afraid. Be very afraid.
