I'm watching the global financial crisis closely, as I'm sure everyone is. To be honest, I've always been a little fuzzy on the actual machinations of the stock market, and so was looking around at stuff to understand the concept better. What I found was too good not to share - this 1952 cartoon courtesy of the Prelinger Archives. It's titled "What Makes Us Tick" - a cartoon which promotes the stock market as the engine of prosperity. Settle back for some good old-fashioned movie theatre kitsch. I wonder what the animators of the '50s think about our stock market these days.
Pass the popcorn and idealism.
