I've been watching every minute of the Olympics that I can. Aside from taking the day off Sunday to watch a disastrous Seattle Mariner's baseball game - geez don't get me started - Couch and I are spending mega time watching the events.
Even though I feel as though my body at some level has disappointed me, I still am able to appreciate the incredible capabilities of these athletes. I can't help but think that these folks are different at a cellular level than we mere mortals are. But after learning more about their challenges and histories, I have to wonder.
There has been a great deal of attention focused on the rigorous physical and mental training that goes on in the making of an Olympic athlete. What an incredible sense of focus, determination, and discipline these people possess.
I guess that we are all given a body with a genetic blueprint. What we do with that raw material is entirely up to us.
